Joao Virginia completes Arsenal exit for Everton
Everton have sealed the signing of talented Portuguese goalkeeper Joao Virginia from Premier League rivals Arsenal. It is understood that the Gunners have decided the shotstopper will not be a part of the club's long-term plans and have decided to let him leave for the Toffees in a deal worth a reported £4.4 million transfer deal.
The goalkeeper, who had been previously playing for Arsenal's youth team as well as Portugal's Under-19 squad that played a part of the European Championship, has been told he had no future at the Emirates and decided to move to Premier League rivals Everton.
The goalkeeper is not expected to compete with the likes of Maarten Stekelenburg and Jordan Pickford for a place in Everton's first team but is definitely earmarked for a place in the club's first-team squad in the future.
According to reports, Joao Virginia has signed a three-year deal worth a package of approximately £25,000 per week with the Toffees and will be an important member of David Unsworth's youth squad.
