Newcastle United striker agrees to West Brom loan
Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle has reportedly agreed to join West Bromwich Albion on loan as part of a deal which would witness Salomon Rondon head to St James Park.
Gayle has been linked with a possible exit from the Magpies since the start of the summer and the club have eventually agreed to offload him on a temporary basis to the Hawthorns.
According to Sky Sports, Rafael Benitez's side have been reluctant to pay Rondon's £16.5m release clause in full but the inclusion of Gayle has helped them to find a breakthrough in negotiations with the Baggies.
Gayle has struggled to make much of an impression in the Premier League over the years but the drop to the Championship has suited him, having previously netted 23 goals for the Magpies during the 2016/17 season.
West Bromwich Albion begun their Championship campaign on a disappointing note as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers at the Hawthorns.
