Everton agree deal with Barcelona over defender transfer

Yerry Mina news

Everton have agreed to sign Yerry Mina from Barcelona for £28.5m, according to Sport. The 23-year-old will sign a five-year deal with the Toffees.

This is coming a day after it was reported that Mina's move to Manchester United broke down due to a row over agent fees.

Everton have been linked with the Colombian World Cup star for some time in the current transfer window, and have completed the signing of his former Barcelona team-mate Lucas Digne for £22m.

Amid interest from Jose Mourinho's side, Digne recently urged Mina to join him at Everton ahead of the new Premier League season.

Mina joined Barcelona in January, but has been unable to play regularly for the Catalan side. He did very well for Colombia at the World Cup in Russia, scoring three goals, including the last minute equaliser against England in the second round.

Everton have already created a place for a new central defender after allowing former Swansea player Ashley Williams to go on a season-long loan to Stoke City in the Championship.
