Everton beat West Ham United to Bernard signing
Everton are reported to have beaten off interest from West Ham United to acquire the services of Bernard. The Brazil international is presently available on a free transfer after his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk expired earlier in the summer.
According to Sky Sports News, Toffees boss Marco Silva is said to have played a key role in luring Bernard to Goodison Park and the attacker is scheduled to have his medical in the next 48 hours.
The Toffees have been very selective with the signings this summer and Bernard would potentially become their recruit of the transfer window after the arrivals of Richarlison and Lucas Digne.
Aside from Bernard, the Toffees have also expressed an interest in signing Yerry Mina from Barcelona but they seem to be trailing to Manchester United, whom the centre-back is said to have already personal terms with.
Everton have endured a difficult pre-season where they picked up just one victory in seven matches and Silva will be hoping for a better start to the Premier League campaign beginning from Wolves this weekend.
