Real Madrid to sign Tottenham midfielder?

Real Madrid have made Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen their number one transfer target if Luka Modric leaves the Bernabeu, The Sun reports.
Modric has been linked with a move to Inter Milan with Luciano Spalletti keen to bolster his side as they prepare to feature in the UEFA Champions League this season after many years out of the competition.
Even if Modric leaves Madrid, the only thing the Champions League holders can boast of having is the will to sign Eriksen. This is because Tottenham failed to sign a single player before the close of the transfer window in England, attracting criticism from fans.
Convincing Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy to sell will also be extremely difficult, and Madrid will most likely be heading for failure if they try to. Real must have learnt from his manner of negotiation when they bought Gareth Bale in 2013.
Eriksen played the entire 90 minutes as Tottenham began their Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United in the early game on Saturday.
