Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants the club to sanction the sale of Anthony Martial before the transfer window closes across Europe.

The France international has looked off-colour since the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez and this has seen him drop down the pecking order under Mourinho.

According to The Star, the Portuguese tactician has had enough with the France international, who he believes is not up to the standard of playing for United.

Owing to this, Mourinho is said to want Martial out of Old Trafford in the next 11 days, though his request is likely to be denied by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Unlike Mourinho, Woodward is said to rate Martial highly and reports suggest that the club are reluctant to part ways with the attacker, who has plenty of potential to deliver.

The relationship between Mourinho and Woodward has worsened over the course of the summer and Martial's future appears another situation where they both seem to disagree.

Earlier this month, Mourinho had been desperate to sign one of Toby Alderweireld or Harry Maguire to bolster the central defence but his ambition went in vain after Woodward decided against paying over the odds for either player.
