David de Gea far off from United contract extension

Spain international David de Gea is reportedly delaying the prospect of extending his contract with Manchester United amid concerns over the salary package.

The 27-year-old has featured in both league games for Manchester United since the start of the season and Jose Mourinho recently confirmed that the club are close to committing the shot-stopper to a new contract.

However, according to The Record, that does not seem the case with the Spaniard yet to agree upon terms over a possible extension with the Mancunian giants.

De Gea is presently on a salary package of £200,000-a-week and he is supposedly eyeing a 50 percent wage rise which would put him on par with Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba, who are among the highest earners.

Unlike recent seasons, De Gea has yet to register a clean sheet after the first two games of the campaign but he will be hoping for better luck when Tottenham Hotspur make the visit to Old Trafford on Monday night.
