Martial set to extend United contract beyond 2019

France international Anthony Martial has reportedly agreed to sign a fresh five-year deal with Manchester United with the belief that he can outcast current head coach Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old has found first-team chances hard since January and his position has only worsened this term after being completely left out of the matchday squad for the meeting versus Spurs.

Despite this, the Frenchman is said to have reached a verbal agreement to sign a new long-term contract at United with the belief that Mourinho would be sacked in the near future, The Times claims.

Earlier this summer, Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley suggested that his client would be making way from United after being mistreated during the second half of the previous season.

However, a move thereafter never materialised with Ed Woodward opting against the sale of the Frenchman for whom they spent nearly £60m to pursue him from AS Monaco in 2015.

Manchester United are scheduled to face Burnley in this weekend's league meeting at Turf Moor and Martial could be called up to the matchday squad after being completely ignored for the Spurs game.
