Willian drops fresh update on his Chelsea future

Willian wants Chelsea stay until 2023

Brazil international Willian has stressed that he was never looking to leave Chelsea during the recently concluded transfer window.

Willian had been in-and-out of the starting lineup under Antonio Conte last term but he still enjoyed the best return of his career with 13 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

Thereafter, he was heavily linked with a summer exit with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United credited with an interest but a move never appeared on the horizon.

Speaking to the club's website, Willian has now clarified that he is content with his stay with the west London giants and he had no plans of parting ways with the Blues unlike stated in the media.

He said: "A lot of people they say a lot of things in the press, but I never said that I want to leave Chelsea, never. Always I say that I want to stay at Chelsea as long as possible, and I am happy to stay here."

The Brazilian added that he is committed to the Blues for the final two years of his contract and he is hoping to earn a further three-year extension to remain in the Premier League until 2023.
