Manchester United's top summer target signs new deal

Harry Maguire news

Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has signed a new five-year deal with the Premier League side, keeping him at the club until 2023.

The England international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window, but the 2016 Premier League champions held on to the former Hull City man.

Reacting to the deal, Maguire revealed the following via the club's official website: "They (Leicester City) gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot."

Leicester bought Maguire from Hull City in the summer of 2017 for an initial fee of £12m.

Since that time, he has done very well for himself, earning a place in England's World Cup squad and helping the Three Lions reach the semi-final in Russia.

This was followed by reports linking him to Old Trafford where Jose Mourinho was looking to strengthen his defence during the summer transfer window.
