Courtois doubts Lukaku's retirement plan

Romelu Lukaku news

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has said that he doesn't believe Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku will retire from international football after Euro 2020.

Last month, Lukaku had revealed that he will be retiring from international football after the Euro Championship in 2020, but the former Chelsea goalkeeper disbelieves him.

‘Do I believe him? Not really, but you never know, of course,’ said the Real Madrid goalkeeper, the Metro reports.

He also highlighted Lukaku's hard work and limited rest, saying that it will weigh on the Manchester United striker in time.

Courtois further said that he can not imagine Lukaku retiring if Belgium were to win the European Championship in 2020, adding that it would be 'unfortunate'.

Belgium will definitely be one of the favourites to win the next Euros after coming third in this year's World Cup in Russia.

Lukaku, Eden Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and Courtois himself are expected to be the players that will help Belgium try to lift the trophy in a little under two years from now.
