Arsenal manager calls for improvement from Mesut Ozil
Arsenal manager Unai Emery believes there is room for improvement for midfielder Mesut Ozil following his slow start to the new Premier League season.
The former Germany international has already featured in three of the club's four league games this term but he has yet to contribute to the scoresheet in the form of a goal or an assist.
Speaking ahead of the Newcastle game, Emery suggested that there is still room for improvement for the World Cup winner and urged him to be more dominant in matches.
"He can improve, he can do more. We will work, we will help him, give him the possibility on the pitch to be together, to find his qualities for us," he said, via Metro.
"He could feel different [after quitting Germany] but every day with us I look at him and he looks well and happy, working with our demands."
Earlier last month, Ozil was completely left out of the matchday squad for the league triumph over West Ham United and this had generated claims of a rift between him and the manager.
However, Emery followed to rebuff the claims by stressing that the midfielder was only left out because of a heavy cold and this has since been reiterated by defender Nacho Monreal.
Ozil, who is expected to make his 200th appearance for Arsenal this weekend, has under three years remaining on his contract signed earlier in January.
