Liverpool yet to open contract talks with James Milner

Liverpool are reportedly yet to open contract discussions with James Milner regarding a new long-term contract.

The 32-year-old is presently in his fourth season since joining them from Manchester City and he has become an increasingly influential figure under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Despite this, the Merseyside giants are yet to discuss yet to open negotiations over an extension with under two years remaining on his existing contract, The Mail claims.

The former England international was widely expected to drop to the bench with the signings of Fabinho and Naby Keita during the summer but he has been simply sublime since the season begun that has made him indispensable.

He has managed to start each of the first six games for Liverpool this term, contributing two assists and three goals - one of which came in the 3-2 Champions League triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in midweek.

The former Leeds United graduate will once again be expected to feature for the Reds when they entertain Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
