Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said that he expects Cristiano Ronaldo to return to the club in the future.

The former Manchester United attacker left Real for Juventus during the last summer transfer window after nine trophy-laden years at the Bernabeu.

During his time with the Los Blancos, he became the highest goalscorer in the history of the club, surpassing legend Alfredo Di Stefano.

Speaking at an appearance in El Chiringuito, he said, reports ESPN: "I think that he is one of those players who will be in the hearts of the Real Madrid fans and will [be remembered] from generation to generation. He is one of those that one day will come back."

Prior to his move to Juve, he was linked with a move to a host of European clubs, including a return to Manchester United, but he chose a new challenge by going to Italy where he has the opportunity to win a new set of trophies.

He currently has three Serie A goals in five games for the Old Lady of Turin.
