Spanish giants join race to sign Cesc Fabregas
Europa League holders Atletico Madrid have reportedly emerged as fresh contenders to secure the signature of midfielder Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea.
The Spain international has enjoyed a successful four years with the west London giants but his gametime has vastly reduced this term under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri.
As such, there has been regular speculation over his future with his contract expiring in nine months' time and according to The Mirror, Atleti are said to be weighing up a move.
Fabregas has already ruled out the possibility of parting ways with the Blues during the winter transfer window but Atleti could yet pursue him with the option of a pre-contract, should the Blues fail to offer an extension.
The former Arsenal man has yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Blues this campaign with Sarri sticking with the likes of N'Golo Kante, Jorginho, Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic for the midfield duties.
