Out of favour defender Davide Zappacosta could be set for a move back to his homeland, as Serie A giants Napoli reportedly consider a move to sign the right-back. Zappacosta had been expected to play a major role in Chelsea's season in 2018-19 but has failed to impress newly appointed manager Maurizio Sarri.

Davide Zappacosta, who arrived at Chelsea in 2016 from Serie A side Torino, has so far played 35 games for Chelsea and has slipped down the pecking order at the club despite the arrival of new head coach Sarri.

Napoli are on the lookout for a new defender and according to Italian channel Rai, Carlo Ancelotti's side are rumoured to be in the race to sign Chelsea defender Zappacosta.

It is understood that the Blues would accept a cut-price fee of only 14 million euros to sell Zappacosta, who has 3 and a half years remaining on his Blues contract.

Napoli are reportedly in pole position to secure the services of the defender, but other Italian clubs such as Sampdoria and AC Milan are also in the race.
