AS Monaco in ‘pole position’ to sign Chelsea player in January, have trick up their sleeve

Thierry Henry news

Andreas Christensen has seen his playing time restricted at Chelsea and has admitted that he could look for a new club in January, if his position does not improve at Stamford Bridge.

Foot Mercato from France claims new AS Monaco manager Thierry Henry wants to solve his defensive problems by bringing the Blues centre-back to the club in the winter transfer window.

It’s claimed the Ligue 1 outfit are in ‘pole position’ to sign the Denmark international as they are willing to take him on loan with an option to buy.

He spent two seasons on loan at Borussia Mönchengladbach and they have ruled out the possibility of re-signing him due to “large” transfer fee to once again secure his services.

Monaco have the financial muscle to sign the 22-year-old, but so far the French outfit have not contacted the west London club regarding their player.

Michael Emenalo left Chelsea in 2017 and moved to Stade Louis II as their sporting director the same year. It’s claimed that Monaco have a trick up their sleeve as Emenalo’s relationship with his former employer could help them in bringing Christensen to the club during the mid-season.

The player’s father, Steen, who is also his agent, has revealed that the Dane could leave Maurizio Sarri’s side in January, if he fails to feature regularly before the end of this year.

Only time will tell if Christensen can be Henry’s first signing at Monaco or not.
