Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is unlikely to come in the way of Matteo Darmian this winter, should the club receive a suitable offer to sanction his sale.

The Italy international was strongly linked with a Serie A return last winter but Mourinho decided against his sale with the need for defensive cover for Ashley Young, who had just returned from the World Cup.

However, as the season has progressed, Darmian has fallen out-of-favour with just the single appearance in all competitions and The Sun claims that his departure could be definite at the turn of the year.

Juventus, Inter Milan and AS Roma were all linked with the versatile full-back last summer but the former appear to have dropped their interest after pursuing Joao Cancelo from Valencia.

Darmian currently has just eight months remaining on his contract but United are likely to trigger a 12-month extension by January in an attempt to garner a better price through his sale.
