Leicester City are reportedly said to hold an interest in acquiring the signature of Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny when the transfer window reopens.

The Egypt international has yet to feature for the Gunners in the Premier League with Unai Emery deciding to limit him to Europa League and League Cup action.

Amidst this, the midfielder has been linked with a potential winter move away from the Emirates and according to the Leicester Mercury, the Foxes are considering a bid for the former Basel man.

Emery has identified Pablo Fornals as a potential replacement for Elneny in the New Year and the club are looking at the prospect of triggering the £17.5m release clause on his Villareal contract.

Elneny, who is currently recovering from a thigh problem, is currently contracted to the Gunners until the summer of 2022 after having penned an extension under ex-boss Arsene Wenger during the backend of the previous season.
