Pochettino on United radar

Manchester United have reportedly earmarked Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as a possible successor to Jose Mourinho at the end of the season.

Mourinho is currently in his third season with the Red Devils but his position is under immense threat after the club's average start to the season which sees them only eighth in the Premier League.

According to The Sun, the Red Devils' hierarchy are keen on recruiting Pochettino as their next head coach, should Mourinho fail to lead a revival during the backend of the campaign.

The report adds that United would be willing to pay the hefty £40m compensation package to Spurs in order to release Pochettino from his contract at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, reports have previously suggested that United are reluctant to sack Mourinho due to the severance fee involved but the club may not be required to pay anything, should they finish outside of the top four.
