Arsenals Rob Holding suffers season-ending injury?

Holding may have sustained season-ending injury

Arsenal defender Rob Holding may potentially miss the rest of the season after being deemed to have sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury during the Premier League draw against Manchester United on Wednesday night.

The centre-back has been able to garner regular gametime over the past few months under Unai Emery and he had recently talked up the prospect of earning a call-up to the England senior squad.

However, his ambition could be shortlived after sustaining a serious knee injury against United which could sideline him for the remainder of the campaign, The Mail reports.

In the absence of Holding, Stephan Lichtsteiner featured in a three-man backline with good effect against United but Emery may resort to the traditional formation for the visit of Huddersfield Town this weekend.

Meanwhile, on the positive front, skipper Laurent Koscielny appears close to returning to competitive action after his Achilles injury and Emery has highlighted that the Frenchman may possibly make the matchday squad this weekend.
