Chelsea preparing £50m bid for Ligue 1 striker?
Chelsea are reportedly planning an ambitious approach to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain in order to solve their crisis in the striking department this season.
Both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have struggled in the Premier League this season where they has managed a combined tally of just six goals and this has recently witnessed Maurizio Sarri express the need for a new marksman.
AC Milan's Gonzalo Higuain and Bournemouth's Callum Wilson were primarily the targets for Chelsea at the start of the month but with both players unlikely to move, they seem to have switched their attention elsewhere.
According to The Express, the Blues are considering a £50m raid for Cavani as they are keen to bolster the centre-forward department during the current transfer window.
However, it remains to seen whether Les Parisiens may consider a mid-season sale of the Uruguay international, who has been the undisputed first-choice for them while leading the line.
Cavani, who is Les Parisiens' all-time leading goalscorer, has 18 months remaining on his existing deal. He has already contributed 14 goals for his team during the current campaign.
