Alvaro Morata completes transfer to Atletico Madrid
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has reportedly finalised his transfer to Atletico Madrid and an official announcement is expected to be made later in the day.
The Spaniard had failed to feature for the Blues in each of the previous three match day squads amid claims that Atleti are in talks to pursue him on an initial loan.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Morata's torrid spell with the west London giants appears to have come to an end after he was granted the permission to join the Europa League holders.
Atleti have agreed to sign their former graduate on a short-term loan for the campaign with the obligation to buy for £48.5m during the 2019 summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Morata's departure is expected to coincide with the Blues' signing of Gonzalo Higuain, though the deal has been stalled for the moment with Milan yet to terminate his loan contract.
The Rossoneri are preparing to sign Genoa's Krzysztof Piatek in the next 24 hours and they should thereafter release Higuain to parent club Juventus, who are expected to sanction his temporary switch to the Blues.
