Sarri suggests Chelsea were lucky with Watford win

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has said that the Blues were lucky to secure the three points during the Premier League clash against Watford on Sunday.

The west London side produced a tired and lacklustre performance in the first period against the Hornets and they were level at 0-0 at the half-time whistle.

However, they managed to turn the game at the beginning of the second half with two quick-fire goals and this eventually helped them seal a comfortable 3-0 win in the end.

Speaking after the game, Sarri acknowledged that his team were lucky during the opening half as they found themselves in trouble with the recent excursions.

"We were in trouble because we were tired, physically and mentally. Then, in the second half, (Watford) lowered their intensity so we were in control of the match. We were lucky, of course, because we scored after two minutes," he said.

Chelsea moved up to the third spot with the victory and they are now guaranted Champions League football for next season after the Gunners failed to keep up with them in the race for the Champions League spots.

Unai Emery's side had to win their game against Brighton & Hove Albion to stay alive in the top four race but they could only a muster a disappointing 1-1 draw in the end.
