Liverpool planning contract talks with 24-year-old star

Origi set for new Reds deal

Liverpool have reportedly kickstarted talks with Belgian striker Divock Origi regarding a new long-term contract.

The 24-year-old declined the chance to leave the Reds in January, and he has since made a huge impression at the Merseyside outfit.

Origi recently scored a late winner against Newcastle United to keep them in the Premier League title race and has followed that up with a brace in the stunning 4-0 triumph over Barcelona to help the Reds progress to the Champions League final.

As such, there have been suggestions that Origi could be rewarded for his efforts and The Star claims that manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on keeping hold of the Belgian for a lengthier period.

Still, the 25-year-old is expected to delay the contract decision until the summer and he may yet consider a fresh challenge with regular gametime far from assured when Roberto Firmino returns to full fitness. He has 13 months left on his current deal.
