United back in for Maguire

Manchester United have reportedly shifted their attention towards Harry Maguire of Leicester City after admitting defeat in the pursuit of Ajax's Matthijs de Ligt.

The Red Devils are on the hunt for a new central defender this summer and reports recently emerged that they could make a late approach to sign De Ligt ahead of Barcelona.

However, according to Evening Standard, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not believe the club have any chance of landing De Ligt and he does not want his side to waste energy in the Dutchman's pursuit.

The same outlet adds that Maguire has once more become the top defensive target for the Red Devils after they missed out on signing him during the previous summer transfer window.

United failed with a bid of around £50m for the centre-back last summer and they may have to significantly increase on their offer with the Foxes said to want more than £75m for the England international.

Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli has been earmarked as a back-up option to Maguire, although the Senegalese would cost much more than the former Hull City man.
