Manchester United could reportedly make a £40m bid for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, should David de Gea leave the club during the ongoing transfer window.

De Gea currently has 12 months remaining on his existing deal with the Red Devils and so far, he has shown no intention of extending his stay beyond that period.

As such, there has been specuation that United could sanction his sale this summer rather than losing him on a free next year and The Sun claims that the club are looking into a potential successor.

It is added that Cameroonian keeper Andre Onana has been earmarked as the prime option to replace De Gea and the club could prise him away from Ajax for a fee of around £40m.

At present, United are yet to part ways with De Gea but multiple reports suggests that he could be rewarded with a huge payoff in order to leave the club in the summer itself.

Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race to sign the Spain international and reports suggest that United may demand as much as £60m for the sale. De Gea has racked more than 350 appearances during his time at the club.
