Arsenal to seal Schubert signing

Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of announcing goalkeeper Markus Schubert as their first signing for the 2019 summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has spent his entire career with German second tier side Dynamo Dresden, but he is available on a free when his contract expires this month.

According to The Independent, the north London giants are said to have won the race to sign the young shot-stopper and they are apparently close to making an announcement.

The same publication adds that Schubert may not directly be integrated into the first-team and talks are already underway to loan him out to a Championship side next term.

Arsenal currently have the likes of David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez returning from their loan stints and one of the duo could be handed with the deputy role behind Bernd Leno next season.

Martinez has been touted to take up the position due to be vacated by the retiring Petr Cech, but reports claim that Ospina may be handed the role, should Napoli decline to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.
