Manchester United ready £45m move for West Ham United star
Manchester United are reportedly readying a formal approach to sign defender Issa Diop from West Ham United.
Earlier last month, the Red Devils were claimed to have made a player-plus-cash offer for the Frenchman, who joined the Hammers from Toulouse 12 months ago.
However, according to L'Equipe, that does not appear the case and the Red Devils are currently said to be planning an opening bid of around £45m for the central defender.
United are keen on pursuing a new central defender this summer and so far, they have found no breakthrough with respect to signing Harry Maguire from Leicester City.
The Foxes are said to demand as much as £90m for the centre-back and that could put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side off, given they are reluctant to pay more than £70m.
In this case, Diop has emerged as a cheap alternative, though the Hammers may likewise play hardball for the defender. The east London side are likely to reject the opening bid from United.
