Manchester City seal club-record deal for second summer signing

City land Rodri on a club-record deal

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Rodri from Atletico Madrid for a club-record fee in the region of £63m.

The Spaniard was linked with the Citizens for the past few weeks and the club have now made the move official with the 23-year-old putting pen-to-paper on a five-year contract.

"City are delighted to announce the signing of Spanish midfielder Rodri. The 23-year-old joins on a five-year deal from Atletico Madrid and follows Angelino to become Pep Guardiola's second signing of the summer," read a statement on their website.

Rodri becomes the club's second signing of the ongoing summer transfer window following the arrival of Angelino, who was re-signed from PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola's side are likely to continue with their spending with a new central defender said to be one of their prime priorities for the transfer window.

They have recently been linked with a move for Harry Maguire from Leicester City but have yet to meet the Foxes' £90m valuation for the England international.
