Daniel Sturridge set for Aston Villa move?
Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has opened talks with Aston Villa regarding a free transfer move this summer. The England international has numerous offers, but it appears as if Villa are winning the race to sign the player.
Aston Villa were dependent on the goals of Tammy Abraham in the Championship last season, but with the striker returning to Chelsea the club are currently short of options and are weighing up a move for Daniel Sturridge. The striker is currently available on a free after the player's deal ended with Liverpool in June, and the Sun has reported today that Villa are at the front of the queue to sign the player.
Sturridge has numerous options to choose from, with West Ham, Southampton and Arsenal amongst the domestic clubs all interested; whilst from abroad Spanish side Real Betis and German clubs Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg have also been in contact.
The striker scored 67 goals in 160 games for Liverpool and is seen as one of the Premier League's most prolific strikers in recent seasons.
