Lazio chief confirms Milinkovic-Savic departure

Serbian on his way to Man Utd?

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has confirmed to reporters that Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could be departing Rome this summer, with reports that Man Utd could be the player's next likely destination. The impressive Serbian international has been linked with a transfer to Old Trafford for two years, and it is understood United are ready to pay 75 million euros to secure the player.

Milinkovic-Savic scored seven goals and returned three assists an impressive campaign last year and has fully established himself as one of Europe's best midfielders.

It is understood United are looking for a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, should the Frenchman decide to leave Manchester.

Claudio Lotito gave United a welcome transfer boost when he told reporters: "Yes, we're looking at the situation. Milinkovic has a good rapport with the club, just as the club has with him.

"If some offers were to be presented, we'd evaluate them with a spirit of collaboration that looks after the interests of the club and the player.

"We'll make the decisions that are best for everyone. The investments we made last summer should've allowed us to qualify for the Champions League, but we hope to have learned from the experience."
