Chelsea boss drops double injury boost for Leicester clash

Lampard confirms Rudiger and Willian are in contention for Foxes game

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that both Antonio Rudiger and Willian are in contention for the Premier League clash against Leicester City.

The duo were in the matchday squad for the European Super Cup clash against Liverpool, but neither of them made the field due to fitness concerns.

Speaking ahead of the Foxes game, Lampard said that the pair are closing on their comebacks and Willian, in particular, appears close to being match fit.

He added that Callum Hudson-Odoi needs a bit of conditioning and he could return to the fray following the first international break of the campaign.

"Rudiger is training. Whether he’s completely match fit is a different thing, for the same reasons as Callum, a bit of conditioning [needed]. Willian is probably closer. They are both in contention for the weekend," he told Chelseafc.com.

Chelsea were probably the better side in the recent game against the Reds but they could not celebrate a victory after a penalty shoot-out defeat to Jurgen Klopp's side.

As such, the Blues have lost both of their competitive matches under new boss Lampard but have the chance to redeem themselves against the Foxes this weekend.
