Arsenal defender heading for shock summer exit
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to sanction the surprise sale of Nacho Monreal to Real Sociedad before the transfer window closes in Spain.
The Spain international has made 250 appearances for the north London giants and he has played the entire 90 minutes of the first two Premier League games of the new season.
Despite this, it seems that Monreal could be heading for a return to the Spanish La Liga and Mundo Deportivo claims that Real Sociedad are confident of landing his signature before the September 2 deadline.
The 33-year-old has been chosen ahead of Sead Kolasinac for the left-back duties this term but that may be primarily due to the fact that the latter was involved in security investigations in relation to the attempted car-jacking incident last month.
Meanwhile, summer signing Kieran Tierney is expected to command the left-back role once he returns to full fitness following his double hernia operation, and Monreal may be reluctant to play as a back-up defender with gametime far from assured.
