Bruno Fernandes set to join Real Madrid?

Fernandes on the verge of Real Madrid move

Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on the signing of midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting before the European transfer deadline tonight.

The Portugal international was heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United earlier this summer and the former are deemed to have rejected the player's advances due to Sporting's valuation.

Since then, the 24-year-old has been associated with a move to the Bernabeu with Los Blancos and The Mail claims that Zinedine Zidane's side are set to announce the midfielder's arrival before the transfer window closes.

The Madrid giants are said to have agreed on a package worth £64m for the Portuguese, who contributed a stunning tally of 32 goals and 18 assists for Sporting last season.

He has continued the new campaign in the same vein of form and has registered two goals and four assists from just five appearances for the Lisbon-based outfit.

In recent weeks, Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen has also been fancied to join the 13-time European champions but that deal may not materialise with Los Blancos seemingly set to land Fernandes.
