Arsenal are understood to have made contact with Real Madrid regarding a potential move for Vinicius Junior during the summer transfer window.

The teenager only joined Los Blancos from Flamengo last summer and he has a fruitful debut season with seven goals and 13 assists across all competitions.

According to UOL Esporte, Arsenal's technical director spoke with Los Blancos' hierarchy regarding a potential deal for Junior during the summer transfer window.

However, the approach was swiftly rebuffed by the 13-time European champions, given manager Zinedine Zidane had been impressed with the progress of the teenager during his maiden campaign with the club.

Junior had largely featured on the left side of the attack last season but his gametime could be reduced this term, considering summer arrival Eden Hazard will expect to occupy that role.

Hazard has so far played no part for the Madrid giants due to a hamstring problem but he should return to the fray following the international break this month.

Arsenal made six signings during the summer transfer window including Dani Ceballos, who joined them on a season-long loan from Real Madrid without the option to buy.
