Van Dijk rejects talk of new Liverpool contract
Virgil Van Dijk has informed reporters that he has yet to sign a new contract at Liverpool, despite the Dutchman having been linked with a fresh deal for over 6 months. The star centre-back, who has been a revelation in the club's first team in recent months, has two and a half years remaining on his current deal.
After guiding Liverpool to the Champions League trophy last campaign, Van Dijk wants to add the Premier League trophy to his haul and is confident that he can help Jurgen Klopp lead the Anfield side to success.
However, when asked about a new deal forthcoming, Van Dijk insisted that nothing has been agreed.
“There is nothing going on, so that’s it,” the 28-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"That’s not on me. I saw some reports in the media that I was agreeing a new deal and stuff. But I’m not even discussing anything at the moment.
“The only thing I want to do right now is focus on the games and we’ll see in the future what may happen.”
