Frank Lampard confirms double injury concern after Liverpool loss
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that both Emerson and Andreas Christensen have picked up injuries during the Premier League clash against Liverpool.
Emerson was drafted straight into the starting XI following his return from a thigh problem but he was substituted within the 14th minute of the game with Marcos Alonso replacing him on the left side of the defence.
On the other hand, Christensen was preferred to partner Fikayo Tomori in a two-man central defence but the Dane was subbed off before the interval with Kurt Zouma taking his place.
Speaking after the 2-1 loss to the Reds, Lampard confirmed that Emerson has suffered a recurrence of the recent thigh problem while Christensen has suffered a knock to the knee, he told: "Emerson was similar to what he did before, Christensen was a bang on the knee. We will assess it."
The Blues have had to deal with plenty of injury concerns from the beginning of the season and Lampard will be hoping that the duo can return to action at the earliest possibility.
Chelsea are presently 11th in the league standings with eight points on the board. They are scheduled to host Grimsby Town in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
