Aubameyang in contract talks with Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly opened negotiations with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over a new and improved contract.

The 30-year-old has netted 49 goals in 75 appearances for the Gunners since joining them from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and the club are now keen to commit him to a fresh long-term deal.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, talks have already started between the club and the player's representatives and there is the optimism that a contract extension will be finalised.

Aubameyang presently has less than two years remaining on his Gunners deal and he could face the prospect of being sold, should a renewal fail to be agreed by next summer.

Arsenal saw the departure of Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer at the end of the previous season and they are keen to avoid an occurence of the same with any of the existing players.

Apart from Aubameyang, the Gunners are also interested in extending the contract of Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman's contract is only due to expire in the summer of 2022.
