United won't overspend on winter signings

Manchester United have reportedly informed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that they won't be spending over the odds for any player in January.

The Red Devils have made a dismal beginning to the current Premier League campaign and they are presently just a couple of points ahead of the drop zone after the opening eight games.

Owing to this, there has been the speculation that the Red Devils may go on a mid-season spending spree but ESPN claims that the business could be restricted with only realistic targets pursued.

The Mancunian giants are looking to recruit a new central midfielder and striker at the turn of the year and reports have emerged that they have already earmarked the target to fulfil the latter of those positions.

Mario Mandzukic is deemed to have already reached a verbal agreement with the Red Devils and a deal worth £9m could be finalised with Juventus when the transfer window reopens in a few months' time.
