Manchester United to swoop for Inter Milan marksman?

Manchester United are reportedly planning to break their transfer record as they seek to acquire the services of Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan.

The Red Devils made the decision to part ways with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez (loan) over the summer and this has limited their options upfront.

Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are currently the only senior options available to lead the line and the former has just returned to first-team action after an early season injury setback.

According to Argentine outlet Clarin, the Red Devils may make an approach for Martinez as early as the January transfer window as they seek to enhance their top four prospects.

Martinez managed just nine goals during his debut season with the Nerazzurri but he has found his feet this term with seven goals from just 13 appearances to date.

He currently has a £173m release clause on his contract with the Nerazzurri but reports have claimed that he could be prised way for around £100m in the future.
