Manchester United to bid for Tottenham star in January

Christian Eriksen news

Eriksen wanted at Man United

Manchester United are reportedly planning a winter attempt to sign Christian Eriksen, who has no intention of renewing his contract at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dane's current deal with Spurs is due to expire at the end of the season and he has apparently rejected the option of signing a new deal with a salary rise.

According to El Desmarque, United are prepared to jump ahead of their European rivals for the playmaker and they are willing to pay as much as £42m for the former Ajax graduate.

The Denmark international has held a keen interest in joining an elite club in the Spanish top-flight but so far, neither Atletico Madrid nor Real Madrid have made an approach for his services.

He has remained a regular for Spurs despite his contract standoff but has been disappointing with the contribution with just two goals and an assist across all competitions.

United are desperately in the hunt for a creative midfielder and they have also been linked with a move for Leicester City's James Maddison. A mid-season deal, however, seems unlikely.
