Tottenham to beat Arsenal to Dayot Upamecano?
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly prepared to battle with Arsenal in the race to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.
The centre-back was the subject of a transfer approach from the Gunners during the summer but they were put off by the £72m price tag.
Still, they have been fancied to make a renewed approach in January but Bleacher Reports claims that they could face competition from north London rivals Tottenham.
Spurs are bracing for the potential exits of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen when their contracts expire in the summer and this may leave the club with the task of rebuilding the central defence.
Upamecano's release clause is expected to reduce as he enters the final year of his Leipzig deal next summer and reports indicate that he could be available for £53m.
The France international has been earmarked by the Gunners as a future central defensive partner for William Saliba and various sources claim that they could push for a mid-season deal to beat off the competition.
