Paul Scholes says Chelsea have 'something missing' under Frank Lampard
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has said that Chelsea have 'something missing' under Frank Lampard as they continue to struggle against the big teams in the Premier League.
The 41-year-old has helped the Blues make a bright start to the season and they are currently comfortably positioned in the top-four battle with a seven-point advantage over fifth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Still, they have not been able to secure any points against the top-six from the previous season with defeats to the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.
Speaking to Premier League productions, Scholes said that the Blues are playing well against the big boys but they have not translated the performances into victories.
He added that Lampard has a missing link in the first-team squad and he needs to sort the concern in order to pick up victories against the Premier League's elite.
“They keep going to these big clubs, playing really well and not winning games. That will be frustrating for [Lampard] I think, because he knows he’s got quality in his team but he’s missing something," he told.
Chelsea's recent defeat against Manchester City has dropped them to the fourth position on the table. They are scheduled to host Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge in their next league game.
