David Seaman recommends Arsenal great to succeed Unai Emery

Seaman backs Vieira to become next Arsenal boss

Arsenal legend David Seaman has recommended the Gunners to consider the signing of former hero Patrick Vieira as their new head coach.

The Gunners recently ended their association with Unai Emery following a run of seven winless games and Freddie Ljungberg has been handed with the interim role.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Seaman has said that Vieira would perfectly fit into the managerial role with the Gunners, given he would have the complete backing from the club's faithful.

He added that the Gunners great is a born leader and the club should go with the Frenchman rather than signing a tried and tested manager from elsewhere.

"I am sure Arsenal fans would love Patrick to come back to the club. Knowing Patrick, I think he would be the right man.He was a born leader and everybody knows that. Maybe go down that route instead of a tried and tested route," he said.

Vieira guided Nice to a seventh-place finish in the French Ligue 1 last season but the club have struggled this term and are just three points adrift of the relegation zone.

As a result, there are bound to be reservations over Vieira getting the Gunners vacancy and it is remains to be seen whether the club are prepared to take the gamble.
