Chelsea boss confirms big injury boost ahead of Lille clash
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed a timely injury boost with Antonio Rudiger in contention to face Lille in the Champions League tonight.
The German has not made an appearance for the Blues since mid-September and during this period, he has been struggling with a pelvic problem for which he has already undergone an operation.
Speaking ahead of the Lille clash, Lampard has confirmed that Rudiger is back into contention and hinted that he could feature from the starting lineup against the French outfit.
"It’s good to have him back. He’s been training really well. He’s got a lot of his fitness work done, his injury has healed. He looks fit and ready to go," he told the club's official website.
The west London giants need to pick up a victory against Lille in the final group stage game in order to guarantee their progress to the round of 16 phase of the Champions League.
Anything less than that, they would be entirely dependent on Ajax picking up a victory against Valencia. Chelsea are currently tied on points with Valencia, who are in the second spot but trail on the head-to-head record.
