Chelsea receive blow in signing top left-back target
Chelsea have reportedly received a blow in the pursuit of Ben Chilwell with Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers stressing that the club won't part ways with any of their first-team stars in January.
The Blues have had their concerns in the defence this term and manager Frank Lampard has been fancied to recruit at least one central defender and left-back in the New Year.
For the latter of those positions, Chilwell has been reported as the prime target for the 41-year-old but it appears that the Blues won't be able to land his signature in the New Year.
The Foxes are currently flying high on the table in the second spot and they are within eight points off league leaders Liverpool. As a result, Rodgers has categorically ruled out the sale of any of the players from the squad.
"There’ll be no-one leaving in January. Categorically. It’s very clear we want to keep this squad together. We want to ensure they stay around beyond January," he told via Football.London.
