Newcastle thrash Spurs

Tottenham 1-4 Newcastle United A re-discovered Newcastle United rout Spurs away from home and grab their first back to back win since December, this will help them stay in the Premier League.

Kevin Keegan has certainly inspired the Newcastle side and what a match they had! It was worth watching every moment and it seemed that they could not stop from scoring.

Tottenham dominated early in the first-half and it seemed that they would break the deadlock any moment. It happened after 25 minutes,Darren Bent putting them in front when he powered a header from Malbranque's inswinging left wing cross.

The Spurs looked better after the goal and they seemed to build on it to produce a good result. But, Nicky Butt had some other things in his mind and he put Newcastle on level terms in the stoppage time of the first-half. A low drive from the edge of the box to the bottom right corner.

Keegan had three men upfront in the first-half and he stuck to that formation. Newcastle looked really strong after the interval and Geremi struck after just six minutes into the second-half. It was not the deadliest of the kicks but Paul Robinson could not get the better of it.

The Magpies rushed into the Spurs area and Martins cut in from the right and passed into Viduka. The Australian did a delicate back heel which almost looked like a dummy and Owen finished it with a cool chip.

Ramos subbed Keane and tried to make some tactical changes, which had less effect on the players who were stunned by the Newcastle attack. A counter-attacking move saw Barton feeding a long ball to Martins who raced into the Spurs box and skipped past Tainio before finishing it. The slaughter was over.

This will be a huge boost for the Newcastle United team and a happy news for the Toon Army. They are now in the 12th position and this will save them from the relegation battle.
