Arsenal on the cusp of announcing new manager

Mikel Arteta news

Arteta set to become next Arsenal boss

Arsenal are reportedly on the cusp of announcing Mikel Arteta as their new head coach.

The Spaniard has been linked with the Gunners' managerial role since the dismissal of Unai Emery last month but there has been barely any movement over the past few weeks.

However, according to The Mail, the north London giants seem to have fast tracked their move for a new manager and Arteta is now the overwhelming favourite to take over at the helm.

Earlier today, Gunners chief Vinai Venkatesham was reported to have held a private meeting with Arteta at the Spaniard's residence and it is now claimed that Manchester City assistant is open step away from the manager's job.

It is added that Arteta will hold a final interview with Josh Kroenke - the son of owner Stan and it is only a matter of time before he is confirmed as the permanent Gunners boss.

Freddie Ljungberg has been serving as the interim boss in the past few weeks and it is unclear whether the Swede would be part of the backroom staff under Arteta, who is set to make his managerial debut.
