Chelsea ready to make £40m bid for West Ham United star
Chelsea are reportedly plotting a transfer approach for defender Issa Diop from West Ham United as they seek to strengthen their options at the heart of the defence.
The Frenchman has made 48 league appearances for the Hammers since his move from Toulouse a couple of years ago and he has remained a consistent starter when he has remained injury-free.
Tottenham Hotspur have recently been credited with an interest in the centre-back but The Express claims that that they could face stiff competition from Frank Lampard's side.
It is further stated that the west London giants are planning a £40m bid for the 22-year-old, though it is unclear whether the Hammers will accept the proposal.
Chelsea are open to the departure of Andreas Christensen amid the interest from AC Milan but Lampard wants a replacement first before sanctioning the exit of the Denmark international.
The Blues are scheduled to host Burnley in the Premier League this weekend. They are currently fourth in the league standings with a five-point advantage over Manchester United.
